Happy Holidays from Our House to Yours! If your looking for some Holiday Cookies and Candy, here are a few of our favorites, their easy to make and you just can't fail.
This recipe was handed down from my grandmother.
Date-Fig Christmas Cookies:
cream the following 2 ingredients together
1/2 # butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
add 3 eggs and beat well
Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking in 1/3 cup boiling water and add to sugar mixture.
Mix the following ingredients into the above a little at a time to the sugar mixture,
3 cups flour - 1 teaspoon Cloves - 2 teaspoon Cinnamon- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
add
1 # chopped Figs - 1 # Walnuts - 1 # Chopped Dates
Mix well, it will be very stiff when mixing
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees till browned

Easy and delicious Peanut Cluster candy from my friend Bob Darrah
Mix the following ingredients in a double boiler until melted
1 package White Almond Bark (16 ounce)
1 package semi-sweet chocolate morsels (16 ounce)
when melted
add 2-3 cups Salted Spanish Peanuts
mix well, let this mixture cool a little and drop by teaspoon on wax paper

Gary, I am not a real lover of dates and figs however, these cookies are really good....the spices really add to the flavor. Lets think that they are healthy for us a little bit (LOL)
