Holiday Cookies & Candy Recipes....Happy Holidays from our house to yours....St Joseph MO

Happy Holidays from Our House to Yours!  If your looking for some Holiday Cookies and Candy, here are a few of our favorites,  their easy to make and you just can't fail.

This recipe was handed down from my grandmother.

Date-Fig Christmas Cookies:

cream the following 2 ingredients together

1/2 # butter

1 1/2 cup sugar

add 3 eggs and beat well

Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking  in 1/3 cup boiling water and add to sugar mixture.

Mix the following ingredients into the above a little at a time to the sugar mixture,

3 cups flour  -   1 teaspoon Cloves  -  2 teaspoon Cinnamon- 1/2 teaspoon Salt

add

1 # chopped Figs  -  1 # Walnuts - 1 # Chopped Dates

Mix well, it will be very stiff when mixing

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees till browned

Cherry-Topped Cookies

Easy and delicious Peanut Cluster candy from my friend Bob Darrah

Mix the following ingredients in a double boiler until melted

1 package White Almond Bark (16 ounce)

1 package semi-sweet chocolate morsels (16 ounce)

when melted

add 2-3 cups Salted Spanish Peanuts

mix well, let this mixture cool a little and drop by teaspoon on wax paper

Enjoy!  Happiest of Holiday Season from our house to yours!

Hi Norma:) We just don't have much time at Christmas anymore for baking and such, so we make it simple.  They are very good and hope you enjoy!

Zane: I know the feeling about needing more cookies and candy, look at this way: The Christmas Season only comes once a year, so enjoy.....we will work it off after January 1.  Happy Holidays to your family!

Gary, I am not a real lover of dates and figs however, these cookies are really good....the spices really add to the flavor.  Lets think that they are healthy for us a little bit (LOL)

Russel:  Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and also wishing you a Happy New Year!  Zoey does look comfy and cozy, doesn't he?  I hope you have a great 2010 also.  After being snowed in for the last 3 days that is all we have done is eat & sleep.
